  • When: Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM Where: Bismarck State College National Energy Center of Excellence Bavendick Stateroom #415 1200 Schafer Street Bismarck, ND 58501 Why: The Town Hall Meeting is a chance to help shape the future of Bismarck. The City Commission wants to engage the public during this update in lots of different ways. We've held focus group meetings, are in the process of collecting thoughts through a survey, the Commission has held several public meetings, and we had a chance to talk with lots of people at the Downtowner’s Street Fair. Through all of this input, we have begun to get a sense of the community vision that sets the ultimate target for the strategic plan. Updating the Strategic Plan is all about aligning the efforts and resources of the City of Bismarck with the vision established by the community through this process. The Town Hall meeting will be a chance to participate in finalizing that vision before it is brought it to the City Commission for approval.  There is still time to complete the Vision & Values Survey by clicking the link below. At the Town Hall meeting, the project consultant, Jason Gray with the JDGray Group, LLC will present the Big Ideas and the Envisioned Future that has been shared so far. Together, we will develop some alternate scenarios to determine what is truly important to the community and collectively think through some of the strategies and tradeoffs required to put action to the vision. Who: All citizens of Bismarck are encouraged to attend. All stakeholders (business owners, future citizens, property owners, etc.) are invited!
  • Thanks to the 378 artists that contributed to the Community Canvas - a large mural showcasing your talents! This project would not have happened without the generous contribution of time, talent, and materials from the Dakota West Arts Council !
  • I love living in Bismarck I have only two notes today that would make it almost perfect: 1) Please please - and in not kidding here - someone do something about the train whistle at 3am. I have to believe the whole city agrees. Pay attention. It sounds more at 3 am than any other time of day. I've sat at crossings and never heard it once. Its clear we are being punked by the train co. Who are they warning at 3am? 2) invest in a New entertainment complex - work towards bringing varied events to Bismarck. More touring Music - stage plays.....with the exception of local talent and occassional b market Acts this town is a cultural wasteland no one comes here. Thank you. I'm serious about that train.
